An
OSBA newsletter for school board members on the
No Child Left Behind Act — May 2007
Curriculum issues by Rob Delane, director of school board development
So what does really work?
The What Works Clearinghouse (WWC) collects, screens and identifies studies of effectiveness of educational interventions
(programs, products, practices and policies). It regularly updates the WWC technical standards and their application to take
account of new considerations brought forth by experts and users. Such changes may result in reappraisals of studies
and/or interventions previously reviewed and rated. The current WWC standards offer guidance for those planning or
carrying out studies, not only in the design considerations, but in the analysis and reporting stages, as well. For more
information, visit www.whatworks.ed.gov.
Bad link hampers download of guide
In an earlier “No Board Member Left Behind,” readers were directed to a Web site to download “Guide to Education and
No Child Left Behind.” Unfortunately, the link was not working at that time. The following link will give you information
on how to order the guide and to enable you to download it electronically:
www.ed.gov/nclb/overview/intro/guide/index.html or www.ed.gov/nclb/overview/intro/guide/guide.html#title.
