OSBA is constantly monitoring the needs of its members to provide the services necessary to effectively manage schools. Commonly, these offerings are provided as part of a district’s membership dues. Other times, the programs are provided as a fee-based service delivered by association staff. Finally, these services may also be available through the outreach of the association through endorsed third parties.
OSBA selectively endorses outside providers to deliver products and services when the program offers special value or a unique benefit to our members. Our criteria include:
- OSBA’s prime concern is that endorsed programs or services be beneficial to its member school districts.
- OSBA seeks products or services that are more affordable through the association than they would be for an individual district.
- OSBA only endorses superior products and services.
- OSBA selects strong, reputable companies that have a solid record of providing first-rate products and services.
- OSBA provides the highest quality service at an affordable rate.
- OSBA’s endorsed programs provide districts with services they need for effective school management.
Programs
- BoardDocs — a paperless governance solution developed for school boards, local governments, private and public boards to help alleviate the enormous task of assembling, printing, distributing and revising agenda items and policies.
- Bond program — surety and fidelity liability coverage for districts, including treasurer and superintendent position bonds.
- Debt Collection Program - school districts can collect on past-due accounts, receive a flat fee that allows the district to retain more of the collected revenue as opposed to a traditional percentage collection agency, increase cash flow without alienating parents; and allows the school’s business office to run more efficiently.
- Electricity purchasing — offering your district the best price on electricity with 24/7 management and a guaranteed ceiling price
- Insurance programs (Insurance Trust) — district liability plan; group life, dental and vision insurance; property/casualty plan
- Property, Liability, Fleet & Violence Coverage—Property, Liability, Fleet and an exclusive Violence coverage for Ohio’s public schools.
- Management consulting — professional consulting assistance in several areas of human capital initiatives, including classification and pay systems and performance management systems
- National Affiliate Program — districts receive the tools and information they need to champion student achievement in their local communities from a federal perspective, along with representation on federal legislative and regulatory issues.
- Online Payment Processing System – allows parents to pay for school fees such as lunches by credit card or electronic check via the Internet. This system cuts down on the amount of checks, cash and money orders school business offices receive.
- Risk Management — workers’ compensation group-rating and risk-management programs for school districts; includes pooling to lower individual district premiums, claims management, medical claims management, “Safe Steps” safety and risk management, safety training and full-service unemployment claims management
