Fairfield City School Superintendent Search

The Fairfield City School District is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Superintendent due to the retirement of Dr. Robert Farrell. The Board is being assisted in its search by the Butler County Educational Service Center.

About Fairfield

The Fairfield City School District is located north of the City of Cincinnati, just outside the Interstate-275 beltway and west of Interstate-75. Our residents live in the 38.2 square miles that make up the City of Fairfield and Fairfield Township.

We are the 16th largest school district in Ohio, with roughly 10,000 students grades preschool through 12. We operate 10 schools and have one operations building, a transportation complex and a central maintenance facility.

The Board of Education in June 2006 approved the District’s revised five-year strategic plan. This plan, with its vision of “Fairfield City School District: Excellence, preparation for life, opportunities for all,” is the result of hundreds of hours of work by scores of administrators, teachers, parents and community members and will help chart the District’s course for the next five years. A copy of the narrative and PowerPoint presentation given to the Board – as well as the individual Action Team recommendations – is available at www.fairfieldcityschools.com.

We Are...

Academic excellence, where no child is left behind.
Fairfield City Schools offer a comprehensive, well-rounded education, as evidenced by the exceptional students who graduate each spring.

The graduating class of 2006 was offered more than 580 scholarships for post-secondary education, with an estimated total of $7.2 million in offerings.

Achievement (2005-06):

  • 24 of 25 state performance indicators met.
  • Graduation rate: 100 % (State average: 86.2 %)
  • Attendance rate: 95.9 % (State average: 94.1 %)
  • 1 National Merit semifinalist and 7 commended scholars
  • 20 AP scholars

Award-winning drama and music programs. Competitive athletics programs in the prestigious Greater Miami Conference.
More than 25 percent of the students grades 9-12 participate in interscholastic athletics (available to students beginning at Grade 7).

Scores of special-interest extracurricular programs are available throughout the district. From Student Government to Drama Club and from German Club to SPAM (art club), students have a variety of options for exploring their interests and talents.

A district of partnerships with business and community groups.
For example, each August the district kicks off the new school year with a communitywide Back-to-School parade and festival. The FHS Arena and Community Room serve as sites for community events and memorials throughout the year. Civic organizations, such as the Rotary Club and Kiwanis Club, support the schools through scholarships and sponsorships. We have a strong partnership with Butler Technlogy and Career Development Schools.

The Athletic Boosters actively raise money, volunteer at athletic events, and promote Fairfield athletics throughout the community.

The Tempo Club – the district's music booster organization – also is an active participant in the school’s music activities through fund-raising and volunteerism.

A districtwide Arts Fair each spring brings community and school together for a day of celebration of student talent.
